What It Means To Be A CoHeir
In the Bible, being a coheir is often linked to the idea of believers sharing in the inheritance of Christ. This inheritance encompasses both the spiritual blessings and the eternal kingdom of God. Here’s a breakdown of its significance.
Joint Heir With Christ
Romans 8:17 says, “If we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.” This means that as followers of Christ, we share in the same inheritance He receives from the Father: eternal life, glory, and the promises of God.
Sharing in Spiritual Blessings
Ephesians 1:3-14 describes believers as recipients of “every spiritual blessing in Christ,” including adoption as children of God, redemption, forgiveness, and the sealing of the Holy Spirit. Coheirship signifies that these blessings are not exclusive to Christ but are extended to us because of our union with Him.
